Church Mansion

Church Mansion belonged to the Irish general and Philhellene Sir Richard George. This tower-shaped building with an internal staircase was built during the last period of Ottoman rule, and then repaired and modified during the 1830s. The house was originally owned by the English historian of the Greek Revolution of 1821, George Finlay , where Richard George then settled and lived to a ripe old age. The historic house became famous again in 1928, as the subject of a painting by Giannis Tsarouchis.
