Benizelos mansion

The Benizelos mansion, located at 96 Adrianou Street, constructed most likely in the first half of the 18th century and is the oldest house in the capital. It is a two-storey rectangular building, with a stone-built ground floor and mainly timber superstructure and has two courts, the north and the south. In 1980, a detailed plan of the monument was made as a necessary prerequisite to its restoration, while in 1988 the plans for the unveiled wooden frame of the mansion were made. The restoration of the monument took place in the years 2008, 2009 focused on enhancing the mansion of the 18th century, so as to highlight the original morphological elements and the character of a pre-revolutionary noble urban house. The mansion has now been transformed into a museum of itself, open to the public.
